Ben Pretorius - On Tuesday evening I will be hosting several #fly #fishing buddies at a special braai to welcome home Rob Bentley. Rob was the logistics manager for a team of South African climbers to Mount Everest. He and the team were at base camp when that horrific avalanche whipped out the best part of the camp killing numerous climbers. The positioning of their camp was such that the main thrust of avalanche narrowly missed them leaving them very traumatised and very fortunate to have escaped with their lives. My advice to Rob will be ….that with fly rod in hand he will always be in a far better space!! Good to have you back in one piece Rob. All the trips are planned, taking great care that they coincide with the best flyfishing #seasons and/or #tides. To ensure guest safety, comfort and personal attention, the number of #anglers on each trip is limited to six.

Ben Pretorius - During this past week I have been pretty busy giving #casting #lessons. The participants who came from #Durban, #Gauteng and #Botswana. Everyone made huge progress and will with practice become very competent #fly #casters in the near future. For anyone wanting help with their casting skills, I run various courses from a beginner’s course to salt water distance casting to remedial courses. I cater for individuals and for groups up to four at any one time. Please visit our website for contact details and more info: http://www.ufudu.co.za/contact.html
I am not sure if any of you have ever made close and personal contact with the front end of a #triggerfish, but I can assure you it is not something you will ever want to repeat. Talk about being once #bitten twice shy…. On a recent trip to the #Maldives Heather Ralph caught a yellow margin #triggerfish which I had tailed for her. In the process of handing it over to her the #fish latched onto the palm of my hand. With a good chunk of palm flesh firmly ensnared by those huge molars the fish locked its #jaws it would not let go. It was only after fellow angler Rudi managed to prize its jaws open with a pair of pliers that I was able to retrieve my very painful hand. UFUDU Flyfishing Experience: http://www.ufudu.co.za/
